Looking for a PhD on eco-districts
Hi everybody, in this post I’m going to talk about
some postgraduate program that I would like to do. My career (Renewable
naturals resources engineering) is very holistic and because of that is very
difficult to me decide about what is the area that I prefer or which job I really
want. Despite of this thinking about my dream of build a complete sustainable neighbourhood,
I should study something about construction and deeper understanding about
technology in clean energies that are possible to use in a neighbourhood, not
only a wind or solar farms sizes.
Talking about sustainable neighbourhoods or
eco-distrits, the first one it’s situated in Stockholm specifically on Hammarby
sjöstad and works since this year. And the planning strategy is focused on a “close
circuit of urban metabolism”, that means building sustainable systems of water,
wastes and energy threats.
That is the reason why if I ever have the chance of
study in Sweden I will take the PhD programme in Sustainability Science at The
Stockholm Resilience Centre (SRC) and visit Hammarby trying to learn the most I
can about the structure and how it works (In this course I must go to the lectures
).
But if the opportunity never comes up I think I’ll take
some PhD in Chile, maybe the “Master in sustainable architecture and energy” at
Universidad Católica ,“Master in energy efficiency and sustainability mention
building” at Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana or something in my Campus
but I didn’t researched about it yet.

I had never heard about "eco-districts", I think it is a wonderful idea!! If any time in future you start an eco-district in Chile, I would love to contribute and live in there as well :D
ReplyDeleteeco-district is a very good idea!!!! I think Chile will be copy that from Stockholm.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as a very interesting topic to deepen your studies. I hope you can travel abroad to know other societies and cultures.
